Job description:
The Finance Auditor is responsible for evaluating financial records, internal controls, compliance, and operational processes within the construction company. The role ensures financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, cost control, and risk mitigation across projects, procurement, payroll, and contract management functions.
Key Responsibilities1. Internal Audit & Financial Review
Conduct periodic internal audits of financial statements, general ledger, and project accounts.
Review revenue recognition methods (percentage of completion, milestone billing).
Verify cost allocations to projects (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors).
Evaluate cash flow management and working capital utilization.
Identify financial discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
2. Project & Contract Audit
Audit project budgets versus actual costs.
Review tendering and bidding financial processes.
Examine subcontractor payments and compliance with contract terms.
Verify change orders, variation claims, and retention amounts.
Ensure proper documentation for project-related expenditures.
3. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor laws, and construction regulations.
Evaluate internal control systems and identify weaknesses.
Assess fraud risks and investigate suspicious transactions.
Monitor compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
4. Procurement & Inventory Audit
Review procurement processes and vendor selection procedures.
Audit purchase orders, invoices, and goods receipt documentation.
Monitor inventory controls for construction materials and equipment.
Evaluate fixed asset management and depreciation records.
5. Reporting & Recommendations
Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations.
Present audit findings to senior management.
Follow up on implementation of corrective actions.
Support external auditors during annual audits.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5–8 years of experience in auditing, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles.
Familiarity with ERP systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
